Another triumph of national sports ended in the Martial Arts Sports Complex of the capital's Olympic City with the international tournament in national wrestling Goresh and belt wrestling Alysh, which brought together representatives of 13 countries from Europe and Asia.
These competitions are held as part of the program of events dedicated to the status of Ashgabat as the City of New Sports Opportunities of the Commonwealth, which was awarded to the Turkmen capital by the decision of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS in May 2024.
On the first day of the tournament, Turkmen athletes won 14 medals in the national wrestling Goresh competition.
The remaining ten sets of medals of the tournament were played out in the Alysh belt wrestling competition.
At the international tournament in Ashgabat, the winners in belt wrestling Alysh were determined in six weight categories for men and four for women. In this type of program, Turkmen athletes also won the team event, winning 14 medals, including 4 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze.
The highest awards were won by Sylapberdi Nuryev (80 kg), Annagurban Allaberdiyev (90 kg), Palvan Gurbangeldiev (100 kg) and Davut Nazarov (over 100 kg). Silver medals were awarded to Abdyresul Durdyev (60 kg), Kervengeldi Dzhumagylydzhov (80 kg), Nobatgeldi Nazarov (100 kg), Zohre Gurbanmyradova (60 kg) and Ainura Fayzullaeva (65 kg) and bronze medals to Umyt Garagulov (60 kg), Azymuhammet Orazmuhammedov (70 kg), Kuvvat Khojamberdiev (90 kg), Khesel Orazgeldieva (55 kg) and Patma Garadzhaeva (70 kg).
The second place in the team standings in alysh wrestling with 4 gold and 5 bronze medals was taken by athletes from Uzbekistan, and the third place was taken by the athletes from Kyrgyzstan, who have 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. Among the winners there are also representatives of Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, India and Belarus.
According to the results of two types of the tournament program, our compatriots won a total of 28 medals, of which 12 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze.
At the end of the final competitions, an award ceremony was held, during which the winners and prize winners of the tournament were awarded medals, certificates, including the book of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov "Youth is the support of the Motherland".
