Turkmen weightlifters win 7 medals at World Youth Championships  

The World Youth Weightlifting Championships has been held in Lima, the capital of Peru, following which Turkmen athletes won 7 medals, including 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze. 

282 Athletes from 52 countries under the age of 17 competed for the awards in ten weight categories for men and women. 

Suleyman Jafarov, a Turkmen athlete, became the winner of the world championship in the weight category up to 102 kg with three medals. He won the gold medal in the snatch (143 kg), the bronze in the clean and jerk (170 kg) and again the gold in the overall (313 kg).

Sulayman's first coach was his father Bakhtiyar Jafarov. Currently the young athlete is trained by the head coach of the youth national team of Turkmenistan Ahmet Saryev.

Ogulshat Amanova also won three medals in the weight category up to 49 kg. She was awarded gold in the snatch (77 kg), bronze in the clean and jerk (91 kg) and silver in the biathlon total (168 kg).

Didarbek Jumabayev, student at the Olimp sports school, took the bronze medal in the clean and jerk (155 kg) in the weight category up to 67 kg. However, he showed the sixth result in the snatch (117 kg) and finished fourth in the total two exercises (272 kg) score.
