A series of sports events will be organized in Turkmenistan on the occasion of the World Bicycle Day celebrated on June 3.
Deputy Prime Minister N.Amannepesov reported at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 25 May that the Turkmenistan Track Cycling Championship will take place from May 27 to June 3 in the Olympic Village of Ashgabat. A cycling marathon covering 335 km will also take place from 31 May to 3 June, with the participation of the national team on a special section of the high-speed highway Mary-Tejen-Ashgabat. And on 3 June, a mass bicycle race is scheduled in the capital.
Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to appropriately prepare for the wide and solemn celebration of World Bicycle Day, as well as to hold physical culture and sports events in the capital and regions on the occasion of this holiday at the proper level.
Cycling, an environmentally friendly sport, is becoming increasingly popular in the world, especially in Turkmenistan, which is making a significant contribution to the development of mass health promotion.
World Bicycle Day was established in April 2018 at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan.
