The 9-year-old chess player from Turkmenabat Aya Bayramova won the bronze medal at the World Cadet Rapid & Blitz Championship 2024 held in the Albanian town of Durres, which took place in two formats with shortened time controls.
The tournament brought together 375 boys and girls from 43 countries who competed in Rapid and Blitz formats in three age categories: up to 8, 10, and 12 years old. In Rapid each player was given 15 minutes per game with an additional 5 seconds per move. And in Blitz - the fastest variant of chess - 5 minutes per game with an addition of 3 seconds per move.
Aiya Bayramova (FIDE rating - 1657) achieved bronze success in Blitz in the category of girls up to 10 years old, scoring 7.5 points out of 11 possible. The first place with 10 points was taken by Alice Henriette Yunker from Russia (competing under the FIDE flag, FIDE rating – 1883). In second place with 9 points was Sharvaanika A.S. from India (FIDE rating – 1673).
Aya Bayramova is coached in chess by the honored coach of Turkmenistan, Guljahan Ovlyakulieva.
