Our compatriots won 34 medals (19 gold medals, 9 silver medals and 6 bronze medals) at the International Open Taekwondo (ITF) Championship held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The national team of Turkmenistan included the schoolchildren of the primary school, namely, Timur Dubrovin (a 2-grader at the Joint Turkmen-Russian secondary school named after A.S. Pushkin, Ashgabat) and Batyr Ovezdurdyev (a 1-grader at the same school) in the 23-29 kilogramme weight class event. Ysmayyl Taylyev, a 4-grader at the secondary school 55, represented Ashgabat in the 30-35-kilogramme weight class event. Eminbeg Movlamov, a 4-grader at the Ashgabat specialized secondary school 130, took part in the 28-32-kilogramme weight class event. Omar Berdimyradov, a 3-grader at the Ashgabat specialized secondary school 87, competed in the 30-37-kilogramme weight class event. These athletes won gold, silver and bronze medals in the tul exhibition performances.
The 6-, 8-, 9-, 10- and 11-graders from Ashgabat and Mary, Balkan Velayats schools successfully competed among the 11-13-, 13-15- and 16-18-years old athletes. The coach of the Mary Etrap sports school of the Mary Velayat Main Department on Physical Culture and Sports and the students of Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports and Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute delighted their fans by achieving success in the men’s events for the 18-39-years old athletes.
