The Youth and Junior Traditional Karate Championship of Turkmenistan was held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, Balkan Velayat, on February 21–26. About 300 athletes from the capital and the regions of the country took part in the competition. The traditional karate team of the Ashgabat Main Department on Physical Culture and Sports took the first place at the tournament. Dovlet Berdiyev coached the team.
Thus, Shamil Guseynov won the U8-9 boys’ single kumite and kata events. Aylar Artykova triumphed in the U8-10 girls’ single kumite event. Selim Yangibayev had no equal in the same discipline for 10-11 year old athletes. Cherkez Myratdurdyev won the U12-13 single kumite event. Meylis Charyev won the U12-13 boys’ single kata event. Gulzada Pirishova took the first place in the same discipline for 10-13 years old girls. Yhlas Annagurbanov won the U14-15 single kata event. Yagmyrmyrat Sahetmyradov had no equal in the single kumite event for the 16-17 years old athletes. Kerim Allamyradov took the first place in the U16-17 single kata event.
The winners of the tournament received the letters of honour and prizes.
