Our compatriot Begench Baltayev won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Sambo Championships held in Yerevan (Armenia).

The tournament gathered the strongest sambo wrestlers from 65 countries of the world. The Turkmen athlete competed in the 79-kilogramme weight class event. Our compatriot demonstrated a high level of preparation and took the third place on the podium. Ivan Harkov (Bulgaria) triumphed in this weight class event. Boris Shatveryan (Armenia) became the runner-up. Egor Sukhoparov (FIAS 1) earned another bronze medal along with the Turkmen wrestler. The athletes who won the medals at the World Championships received the unique precious pins of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS).

In this context, it should be noted that the 2024 Sambo World Championships will be held in Astana (Kazakhstan), while the 2025 World Sambo Championships will take place in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. This fact demonstrates the recognition of the sports potential of our Motherland, which is highly estimated by the largest international organizations.
