The II CIS Games, which were held in the Republic of Belarus, closed. The Turkmen athletes performed in 13 sports at these international competitions. The medallists in 20 sports of the tournaments that took place on the sports arenas in 11 cities of the Republic of Belarus were announced. The participation of athletes from the CIS states, as well as Asia and Africa, increased interest in these competitions. The Turkmen athletes displayed their outstanding skills and techniques in the struggle for medals with experienced sportsmen. They took a decent place in the medal table of the II CIS Games. We are presenting their results to our readers.
A Turkmen weightlifter Yulduz Jumabayeva won a silver medal in the under 49 kg weight category. She lifted 161 kg (71+90) in two events and lost first place to Elizaveta Khatkina from Russia (total 171 kg/77+94). A Turkmen weightlifter Ali Babamuradov won a silver medal in the under 55 kg weight category with a total result of 215 kg (95+120).
A Turkmen judoka Nasiba Narimanova won a bronze medal in the under 63 kg weight category. Bekruz Bagridinov won a bronze medal in the under 50 kg weight category. A judoka Dilara Kandymova, who competed in the under 40 kg weight category, brought another bronze medal to the Turkmenistan national team.
A Turkmen weightlifter Atajan Dayiev won a silver medal in the over 109 kg weight category. Our countryman lifted 351 kg (150 kg in the snatch and 201 kg in the clean and jerk). This result brought Atajan Dayiev to the second step of the podium. A Turkmen athlete Sangiz Bakhtyarova lifted 86 kg in the snatch and showed a result of 110 kg in the clean and jerk in the over 87 kg weightlifting tournament. Sangiz Bakhtyarova won a bronze medal with the result of 196 kg in two events.
A Turkmen archer Ezizumhammet Sahedov won a bronze medal. Our compatriot defeated 7:1 the 24-year-old Russian shooter Sodnom Budaev in the third-place match in the men’s singles tournament.
The Turkmen boxers Ykhlas Bakhtiyarov and Ylham Nazarov won bronze medals in the boxing tournaments in Oshra.
The Turkmen wrestler added his victory in the freestyle wrestling competitions in Soligorsk to the winning streak of our team. Our compatriot Ziyamuhammet Saparov won a bronze medal.
Two members of the Turkmenistan youth team – Byashim Byashimov and Kemal Dovletov won bronze medals in the Thai boxing tournament.
Before the closing ceremony of the II CIS Games, the Turkmen athletes Batyr Hojamuhammedov, Medine Aydogdiyeva, Sapar Dovletov and Guvanch Begaliev won bronze medals in the sambo tournaments.
The closing ceremony of the II CIS Games took place at Minsk-Arena on August 13.
