The winners of the Chess Championships of Turkmenistan have been announced recently. The best chess players from the regions of the country and the Turkmen capital gathered at the Specialized Chess and Checkers School of the Ashgabat Main Department on Physical Culture and Sports to take part in the qualifying tournament for the top league. The chess players who scored the most points at the tournament became known in the afternoon that day.
According to the results of the men’s event, Yusup Bayramgeldiyev (Ahal Velayat) won the 1st place with 8.5 points in 9 games. Allayar Shirliyev (Ashgabat) scored 7.5 points in 9 games and took the 2nd place. Amanmuhammet Hommadov, a representative of the Ashgabat secondary school 117, an athlete of the Specialized Chess and Checkers School (coached by an international referee, master of sports Serdar Annaberdiyev) and Karen Grigoryan, a resident of Ashgabat, occupied the 3rd and 4th places respectively with 7 points in 9 games.
Meryem Agajanova (8.5 points in 9 games), a representative of the Ashgabat secondary school 55, an athlete of the Specialized Chess and Checkers School, Ogulsuray Bayrambaeva, a student at Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports (7 points in 9 games), and Jennet Durdyeva (6.5 points in 9 games) won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in the women’s event. Mahri Aymakova, Leyla Shohradova, and Maral Zeripjanova, the players who represented Lebap Velayat, qualified for the top league.
The athletes who entered the top-three at the tournament were awarded with the letters of honour and special gifts from the State Committee on Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan and the Specialized Chess and Checkers School.
