The Championships of Turkmenistan

The national championships in several sports are being held in Turkmenistan these days. From the beginning of December, the Belt Wrestling Championships, the Combat Sambo Championships, the Archery Cup of Turkmenistan, the Badminton Championships, the Weightlifting Championships, the Traditional Karate Championships and the Swimming Championships of the country have been organized. Those tournaments are of great importance in achieving the harmonious development of sports in all Velayats of our Motherland.

The Boxing Championships of Turkmenistan concluded on Thursday.

76 men and 11 women boxers from Velayats and Ashgabat took part in the tournament held at the sports school 6 in Mary.

In the women's competition, Yanyl Kavisova from Dashoguz Velayat won in the 50-kilogramme weight class event. Orazmuhammet Byashimov coaches her. Merjen Mammetyarova, an athlete from Ahal Velayat, became the champion in the 54-kilogramme weight class event (coach Sohbet Bekiyev). Maysa Valyeva triumphed in the 66-kilogramme weight class event. She represented the team of Ashgabat.

In the men's events, Said Babajanov from Ashgabat (coach Annamyrat Sahedov, 51-kilogramme weight class event), Dovlet Charyev from Lebap Velayat (coach Faruh Yomudov, 54-kilogramme weight class event) won the gold medals. Yhlas Gylychjanov and Shukur Ovezov from Ashgabat (coach Yazmuhammet Pazzyev, 57- and 60-kilogramme weight class events respectively), and Zakir Rejepov from Ashgabat (coach Aliasker Bashirov, 63.5-kilogramme weight class event) triumphed at the Championships. Saparmyrat Odayev and Muhammetmyrat Sahedov (coach Annamyrat Sahedov, 67- and 71-kilogramme weight class events respectively) won the gold medals. Both of them represented the team of Ashgabat. K.Korov from Mary Velayat (coach Akmyrat Esenmyradov, 75-kilogramme weight class event), M.Nuryagdyev (80-kilogramme weight class event), and T.Gurbanov from Ashgabat (coach Annamyrat Sahedov, 86-kilogramme weight class event) triumphed at the Championships. R.Yuldashev from Dashoguz, and B.Toychyev defeated all their opponents in the 92- and +92-kilogramme weight class events respectively.

Aliasker Bashirov was the main referee of the tournament, and Akmyrat Esenmyradov was the main secretary.

The athletes who won prizes in the events received the letters of honour and gifts from the State Committee on Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan and the Boxing Federation of Turkmenistan.
