December 12, 1995 is one of the important dates in the modern history of Turkmenistan. The adoption of the special Resolution «Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan» 27 years ago with the unanimous support of 185 UN Member States was a major event that had a positive impact on the political life of the planet.
The re-adoption of this Resolution on June 3, 2015 confirmed the high international prestige of our state that is now implementing a constructive foreign policy strategy under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Another vivid evidence is the adoption of the Resolution of the UN General Assembly that officially declared December 12 as the International Day of Neutrality on the initiative of Turkmenistan in February 2017.
We can say with confidence that neutral Turkmenistan that is a full member of the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia contributes to expanding and promoting the Olympic movement.
