The Turkmenistan national sambo team completed its performance at the 47th World Championships with 6 medals. The Turkmen sambo wrestlers won 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals for the national team.
The Turkmen wrestlers won one silver and two bronze medals on the last – the 3rd day of the World Championships in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan).
Begench Baltaev won a silver medal on the last day of the tournament. The coach from sports school 2 of the Lebap Velayat Committee for Physical Culture and Sports Begench Baltayev showed this result in the under 79 kg category of the sports sambo tournament.
Guvanch Begaliev won a bronze medal in the under 98 kg category in the sports sambo tournament, and Babajan Ivadullayev won a bronze medal in the over 98 kg category in the combat sambo tournament.
A serviceman of Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov military unit 1001 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Muhammet Kossekov won the highest award on the first day of the tournament.
On the second day of the World Championships, an athlete of the National Martial Arts Federation of Turkmenistan Kakageldy Egenbaev and a coach from sports school of the State Committee for Physical Education and Sports Batyr Hojamuhamedov won bronze medals in the under 71 kg category and the over 98 kg category respectively.
The Russian sambo team ranked first in the team event of the World Championships. In total, the Russian athletes won 19 medals (13-2-4). The Kyrgyzstan team (2-1-3) ranked second, and Belarus ranked third (1-3-4).
The World Sambo Championships took place in Bishkek from 11 to 13 November. Athletes from 52 countries competed in the vent. The athletes from 21 countries (including the refugee team) left Bishkek with medals.
