The Turkmen athletes achieved the first success in the weightlifting event at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games. Yulduz Jumabaeva won the first medal for the Turkmen team in the first days of the large sports festival. Yulduz Jumabaeva, an athlete of the weightlifting team of Turkmenistan and coach at the sports school 1 in the Gurbansoltan eje Etrap, Dashoguz Velayat, took part in the 49-kilogramme weight class event. Besides our compatriots, the athletes from the Republic of Turkey and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia struggled for the medals at the Games in this weight class event. Our compatriot won a bronze medal in snatch in the 74-kilogramme weight class event. She earned a bronze medal in clean and jerk after lifting a weight of 93 kilogrammes. The results of Yulduz (167 kilogrammes) secured her a bronze medal in total. Thus, our compatriot won three bronze medals for the national team of Turkmenistan at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games.

Over 4,000 participants from 56 countries compete in the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya, the Republic of Turkey. The Turkmen delegation consists of 116 people (81 athletes, 18 coaches, 2 referees, 3 physicians and 12 officials).
