The 5th Islamic Solidarity Games started in Konya, the Republic of Turkey. The Turkmen delegation prepared the large sports festival and took part in the opening ceremony of the Games.

As is known, a large group of the Turkmen athletes participate in the Games. The athletes from Turkmenistan compete in the judo, karate-do, kickboxing, swimming, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, basketball, athletics, archery and weightlifting events.

11 judokas represent the judo team of Turkmenistan at the Games. 9 athletes compete in the karate-do events. It should be noted that 15 fighters represent our kickboxing team. 5 athletes demonstrate their skills in the swimming events at the Games.

9 wrestlers take part in the freestyle wrestling competitions. 6 athletes compete in the Greco-Roman wrestling events. 8 players represent our basketball teams. 5 athletes take part in the athletics events, 1 representative competes in the archery event.

The Turkmen weightlifting team is represented by 6 women. 6 men compete against the strongest weightlifters in their weight classes.
