Turkmenistan takes consistent efforts to strengthen and expand relations with the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia and international sports associations.

The world is witnessing the capability of Turkmenistan to stage and host major international sporting events forums, illustrating its commitment to the principles of the Olympic movement.

In 2024, Paris will host the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games, at which the Turkmenistan national team will perform. The President of Turkmenistan signed the Resolution authorising to set up the Organizing Committee for the preparation of the Turkmenistan national teams for the XXXIII Olympic and XVII Paralympic Games, which will be held in Paris, France in 2024, and approving its composition.

Time does not stand still, and after the Olympic Games, the international sports calendar shows the World Sambo Championships, which will be held in Ashgabat in 2025. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the importance of the upcoming championships, which will contribute to not only increasing the international sports prestige of Turkmenistan and strengthening friendly relations among nations, but also promoting physical activity and sports in the country.

The founder of the modern Olympic Games Pierre de Coubertin (1863-1937) wrote the penetrating words in his Ode to Sports, “O Sport, you are Peace! You forge happy bonds between the peoples by drawing them together in reverence for strength which is controlled, organised and self-disciplined. Through you the young of all the world learn to respect one another, and thus the diversity of national traits becomes a source of generous and peaceful emulation.”

For more than 30 years, the people of Turkmenistan have been witnessing and creating the modern history of their country. Our path is the path of peace and promotion of mutually beneficial relations in many international areas, including sports.
