SILK WAY RALLY 2022: impressive victories of the Turkmen crews

The victories of the Turkmen crews at the Silk Way Rally 2022, being held in the Russian Federation these days, demonstrate the high level of national school in motor sports.

The results of the Silk Way Rally 2022 will be announced on July 16. The Turkmen delegation participating in the competition has 19 members, including in the team leader Shamyrat Gurbanov. Maksatmyrat Dangatarov, Merdan Toylyev, Suleyman Annamammedov are the drivers of our national team, while Muhammetmyrat Gurbanov, Didar Orazmedov, Shohrat Toylyev and Parahat Garlyev are the navigators in their crews.

It should be noted that the Turkmen teams take part in the T2 Group at the Silk Way Rally 2022. The crew of the Turkmen driver Merdan Toylyev won the first leg in the T2 Group for the off-road vehicles. In the second leg of the competition, the crews from Turkmenistan struggled with the team of the AvtoVAZ plant. Dmitry Voronov, the main contender for the victory, was inferior to the Turkmen driver Merdan Toylyev in the first leg of the rally. Despite the same results, Maksatmyrat Dangatarov's crew outperformed D.Voronov's team in the second leg. In the third leg, Dmitry Voronov won the first victory at the special stage of the Silk Way Rally 2022 in Astrakhan. Merdan Toylyev was the runner-up, and Shamyrat Gurbanov entered the top three.

The fourth leg of the rally was organized along the Astrakhan – Grozny route on July 10. Shamyrat Gurbanov's crew was the first to cross the finish line at this stage. Dmitry Voronov took the second place. Maksatmyrat Dangatarov's crew became the third. The next leg along the Grozny – Grozny route was launched on July 11. Our compatriot Merdan Toylyev left behind the crews of Shamyrat Gurbanov and Maksatmyrat Dangatarov and won this leg. Thus, the Turkmen crews formed the top three in this leg.

On July 12, crews covered a 545-kilometre distance in the sixth leg along the Grozny – Elista route. Dmitry Voronov was the first at the finish line. Shamyrat Gurbanov's crew took the second place. Merdan Toylyev's team entered the top three. In the seventh leg along a 350-kilometre distance in the suburbs of Elista, the winners were the same as in the sixth leg. The Turkmen crews, led by Shamyrat Gurbanov and Merdan Toylyev, finished on the second and third places respectively.

On July 14, the teams covered a 647-kilometre distance along the Elista – Volgograd route. Merdan Toylyev took the second place, and Shamyrat Gurbanov's crew entered the top three with a 25-second gap.

After 8 special stages, the Turkmen crews form the top three. The crews of Toylyev, Gurbanov and Dangatarov lead in the T2 Group. Their main opponent, Voronov, is still on the fourth place.
