Nedir Allaberdiyev won the first medal for Turkmenistan at the World Sambo Championships. The 28-year-old sambist achieved his bronze success in the under 79-kg weight category.

The combat sambists added 2 more medals to the collection of the Turkmenistan national team. Abdylla Babaev in the 71-kg weight category and Rustem Penjiev in the 79 kg weight category won the bronze medals at the World Championships.

According to the International Sambo Federation (FIAS), the World Championships in Tashkent brought together representatives from 50 countries.

The prize fund of the World Championships is US$ 231,000. The world champions received US$ 4,000, the silver medallists - US$ 3,000 and the bronze – US$ 2,000.
