The XXX World Summer Universiade opened in Naples

The opening ceremony of the XXX World Summer Universiade took place on July 3 in Naples (Italy) at the San Paolo Stadium.

Athletes from 127 countries of the world, including the national team of Turkmenistan, passed the solemn parade around the stadium.

President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, announced student sports games open, the fire of the Universiade was lit by the famous Italian football player Lorenzo Insigne.

Spectators especially remember the spectacular appearance of the Universiade talisman from the sky - mermaids Parthenopa, vivid choreographic compositions in which about 1,500 dancers took part, performance by 16-year-old singer Carmen Pierre, winner of the Italian version of the show “The Voice”.

Among the participants of the solemn ceremony are popular Italian singer and songwriter Malika Aiane, Paralympic champion of Europe, the world and the Olympic Games in fencing Beatrice Vio, three-time Olympic champion in diving, Klaus Dibiassi and many others.

Oleg Matytsin, President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), noted in his speech that the first Universiade took place 60 years ago in Italy, and this sports movement began, which then spread throughout the world.

The video greeting to the audience was addressed by the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach.

The performance of the world famous tenor Andrea Bocelli became the decoration of the festive ceremony.

The opening ceremony of the XXX World Summer Universiade concluded with a parade of participating teams. Then the sky over the Gulf of Naples painted festive fireworks.
