From May 24 to May 26, 2019, in the capital of the French Republic, the international tournament “Grand Prix of Paris” in sambo and combat sambo among men and women was held.
A representative team from Turkmenistan in the amount of seventeen athletes, three coaches and one judge returned home with a solid baggage of medals of various dignity.
In sambo competitions, Turkmen athletes climbed exclusively to the highest step of the pedestal, winning five highest awards.
In the category up to 64 kg among women, the first place was taken by employee of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan Gulnar Hayytbaeva.
A similar result for Kerim Allanurov (weight category up to 57 kg), Yusupmyrat Atamyradov (up to 68 kg), Begench Baltaev (up to 74 kg) and Guvancha Begaliyev, who fought in the category up to 90 kg.
In the competition in combat sambo, the medal "harvest" turned out to be even more heavy - four gold, four silver and one bronze award.
In the category up to 57 kg, Akhmet Tangryberdiev, a fourth-year cadet of the National Security Institute, was not equal, in the categories up to 68 kg, 82 kg and 100 kg, respectively, Abdylla Babayev, Dzhavlanbek Madaminov and Babadjan Ivadullayev celebrated the victory.
Two medals of silver dignity each brought to the Turkmen team athletes who competed in the male part of combat sambo and representatives of the beautiful half of humanity.
A step away from the victory stopped Ruslan Yusupov, who fought in the weight category up to 62 kg and Rusdem Pendzhiev (category up to 74 kg), Veronika Rus (up to 60 kg) and Gulnar Hayytbaeva (up to 64 kg). And for the latter, this award was already the second in a tournament in the French capital after winning a performance in competitions in sport or classic sambo.
In addition, a bronze medal medal was brought to the piggy bank by a team of the Transport Police Department Charymyrat Annagurbanov, who competed in the category up to 100 kg.
