These days, the 6th International Solidarity Championships and the qualifying tournament for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo are taking place in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. The Turkmen weightlifters are performing in these sporting events.

The Turkmen athletes have stood several times on the podium of the tournament that started on February 8.

A 4-year student from Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport Yulduz Jumabaeva (49 kg weight category) lifted 72 kg in the snatch event and won a silver medal. She lifted 96 kg in the clean and jerk event and won a gold medal. In total, she lifted 168 kg and won a silver medal.

A coach from sports school 3 in Deinau town of the Lebap Velayat Main Department of Sports and Youth Policy Seitjan Mirzaev (61 kg weight category) lifted 130 kg in the snatch event and won a gold medal. He lifted 150 kg in the clean and jerk event and his result enabled him to take 4th place. In total, he lifted 280 kg and won a bronze medal.

A 3-year student of Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport Kristina Shermetova won 3 bronze medals. Kristina (55 kg weight category) lifted 85 kg in the snatch event and 110 kg in the clean and jerk event. In total, the Turkmen athlete lifted 195 kg, and her result enabled her to rank third in the three events.

116 athletes from 37 countries are performing at the Championships in Tashkent that will finish on February 12.
