A program of the First Games of the CIS countries and a competition to develop symbols are announced

The First Games of the CIS countries that scheduled for August 20-27, 2020 in Kazan, will gather about 2,500 athletes from 14 to 23 years old, about 2,000 volunteers and 1239 judges from 11 states, the official portal of local authorities of the capital of Republic of Tatarstan informs.

Kazan will receive the sportsmen from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.

The Games will be held in 21 sports, including basketball, boxing, beach volleyball, table tennis, rhythmic gymnastics, water polo, judo, athletics, swimming, wrestling, sambo, fencing, futsal, belt wrestling and kuresh, karate, dance sport, arm wrestling, mas-wrestling, weight-lifting, Thai boxing, chess. In total, 230 sets of medals will be prepared to award the winners.

As part of the First Games of the CIS countries program, a business programme and an extensive cultural entertainment programme are planned. This summer, the capital of Tatarstan will host the VI All-Russian Festival of National and Non-Olympic Sports, the sports forum «CIS – the territory of sports» and a large festival of national cuisines, where one can get acquainted with the culture of the CIS countries. it was announced at the briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan by the Director General of Directorate of Sports and Social Projects Azat Kadyrov.

«Since the Commonwealth Games start almost immediately after the Tokyo Olympics that complete on August 9, we will mainly rely on young athletes, on future Olympic Games participants,» Kadyrov said.

The competitions will be held at 15 sports grounds in Kazan, including sports facilities of the Volga Region Academy of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held in Basket Hall sports arena on August 20 and 27, respectively.

In addition, Kadyrov announced the launch of a competition to develop logos and symbols for upcoming events. Everyone from the CIS countries can take part in it. The submission period starts on January 27 and ends on February 16 and it should be e-mailed to: konkurs@dspkazan.com. The results of the competition will be announced on March 1, 2020.
