The Turkmenistan national football team will take part in the 2025 CAFA Nations Cup, the matches of which will be held in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan from 29th of August to 8th of September, The Turkmenistan: Golden age electronic newspaper reports.
The second ever tournament of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) will be held with the participation of 8 teams – Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, which are part of the organization, as well as the national teams of India and Oman.
At the first stage of the tournament, its participants are divided into two groups. Following the draw, the national team of Turkmenistan ended up in Group A, where its opponents will be the teams of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Oman. All matches of our team will be held at the Jar and Olympic stadiums in Tashkent.
In Group B, the games in which will be held at the Hisor Central Stadium, 12 kilometers west of Dushanbe, the national teams of Afghanistan, India, Iran and Tajikistan will compete.
According to the 2025 CAFA Nations Cup regulations, the group stage will be played in a single round. Then the group winners will meet in the final, and the teams that take second place will compete for third place.
The CAFA Nations Cup tournament among men's teams is held every two years. The current CAFA champion is the Iranian team, which defeated the Uzbekistan team 1:0 in the final match held in Tashkent.
